Casablanca launches citywide pest control campaign amid

Municipal authorities in Casablanca have launched a large-scale campaign to combat the growing spread of cockroaches, flies, mosquitoes, and rodents across the city, amid mounting complaints from residents.

Sanitation teams from the city’s local development company, Casa Environnement, have been deployed across various districts and beaches under the directive of the municipal council.

The teams, accompanied by members of the municipal health office, have begun spraying insecticides in an effort to curb the surge in pests, particularly as temperatures continue to rise.

Multiple neighborhoods and public areas have witnessed a sharp increase in insects and vermin in recent days, causing discomfort and frustration among locals. In response, municipal officials have stepped up pest control efforts, focusing especially on green spaces, sewers, beaches, and stagnant water where mosquito larvae are commonly found.

Nafissa Ramhan, Deputy Mayor of Casablanca in charge of health affairs, said the campaign is part of a seasonal preemptive strategy. “We launched this summer initiative in beaches, parks, and water basins to curb the proliferation of pests,” Ramhan told Hespress AR.
